Outsidereal is an art trail with a difference. Spanning the length of the Borough of Camden from just below Hampstead Heath all the way down to the British Museum this trail takes in some of Camden’s best and brightest sites, spaces and shops.
Originally borne from the new Camden Council offices and the two beautiful new public art works in the building (one by Turner Prize nominee Mark Titchner and international artist Simon Periton), this trail aims to highlight these new permanent works and get audiences moving round the borough, encountering echoes of the artworks and promoting a day out in Camden.
Locations were selected by the artists as places that stand out to them; that they have a relationship with, and interventions range from chip shop paper to semi-permanent installations. This trail is about getting to know Camden like the back of your hand.
The name of the project, Outsidereal , is taken from the word sidereal which means the movement of stars in the sky, the venues making up a constellation on a map of Camden and we, the participants, the moving stars.
